1. Who we are

Boost Ecommerce is an ecommerce consultancy operated by Boost Ecommerce Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17253139), whose registered office is at 269 Farnborough Road, Farnborough, GU14 7LY. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC250737.

This policy explains what personal data we collect through our website and when we work with you, why we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Our use of cookies is explained in section 14 (Cookies), and the terms on which we provide services are in our Terms and Conditions.

2. The data we collect

When you request a Free BOOST Snapshot or ask us a question: your name, email address, phone number, company name, website address and any details you include in your message about your business or project.

If you sign up for emails: your name and email address, and a record of when and how you agreed.

When you visit our website: technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, and pages viewed. If you accept analytics cookies, Microsoft Clarity records how you scroll, click and move around our pages (with anything typed into forms masked), and Leadfeeder uses your IP address to identify the company you may be visiting from. Non-essential cookies are only set if you agree, as explained in section 14 (Cookies).

If you become a client: contact details for you and your colleagues, the information needed to deliver the work, and invoicing and payment records.

We do not ask for special category data (such as health information) and ask you not to send it to us.

3. Where your data comes from

Mostly from you directly, through our website forms, email, phone or meetings. We may also use publicly available business information, such as your company website or Companies House record, when preparing your Free BOOST Snapshot.

4. How we use your data and our lawful basis

Answering your question or carrying out the Free BOOST Snapshot you asked for: Legitimate interests (responding to the request you made to us)
Sending our email newsletter and updates: Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Delivering consultancy services to clients: Performance of a contract
Invoicing, accounting and tax records: Legal obligation
Keeping our website secure and working: Legitimate interests
Understanding how our website is used (analytics and session recordings) and identifying which businesses visit our site (Leadfeeder): Your consent, given through our cookie banner (see section 14)
Handling complaints and legal claims: Legitimate interests and legal obligation

You do not have to give us your details, but we need a name and email address to answer your question or send your Free BOOST Snapshot.

We will only send marketing emails if you tick the opt-in box or otherwise agree. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:

Service providers who process it on our behalf under contract: website, forms and hosting (Wix), cookie consent management (Usercentrics, through Wix), email and file storage (Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, including Outlook email and OneDrive), accounting (QuickBooks), website analytics (Wix Analytics, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) and business visitor identification (Leadfeeder by Dealfront)
Professional advisers such as our accountant, under a duty of confidentiality.
Partners on a project, only where you have agreed.
Authorities where the law requires it.

6. International transfers

Our website platform, Wix, stores website and form data on its own servers. We do not control where Wix stores this data, and it may be held outside the UK, including in the European Economic Area and the United States. We also keep emails and files with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 (Outlook and OneDrive), and these providers, along with our analytics providers, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US Data Bridge for certified US companies) or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to keep your data protected to UK standards. 7. How long we keep your data

Free BOOST Snapshot requests and questions that do not lead to paid work: 2 years from last contact
Email subscriber details: Until you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not email you again
Client contract and project records: 6 years after the work ends
Invoices and accounting records: 6 years from the end of the tax year (HMRC requirement)
Website analytics: Up to 14 months

8. Keeping your data secure

We use reputable providers, strong passwords, two-factor authentication and access limited to people who need it. No system is completely secure, and we will tell you and the ICO about a serious breach where the law requires it.

9. Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated means, including profiling, that have legal or similarly significant effects.

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

access a copy of your data
have inaccurate data corrected
have your data erased
restrict how we use it
object to our use of it, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing
receive your data in a portable format
withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing

To use any of these rights, email support@boostecommerce.co.uk. We will reply within one month, which can be extended by up to two further months for complex requests. There is usually no charge.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first at support@boostecommerce.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and aim to resolve it promptly.

If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Our website may link to other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.

Analytics: Wix Analytics; Leadfeeder (_lfa); Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*); Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID, MUID). Counts visits, shows which pages are used, records how visitors use pages (Clarity) and identifies which companies visit (Leadfeeder), so we can improve the site and understand business interest. Off until you accept in the cookie banner.

Your choices

When you first visit, our cookie banner (provided by Usercentrics through Wix) lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of this privacy page.
